* Cervical Smear Update

All women from the age of 25 will continue to be invited for a cervical smear. This will be done by our practice nurse at 3 yearly intervals until the age of 50 and then 5 yearly intervals until the age of 65.

Just a reminder that if you have had any abnormal cervical smear results, then you will be recalled more frequently and sometimes screening will continue beyond the age of 65.

The main change is that although we as a practice will continue to be involved in the decision making around who should be recalled and when, the letters will actually be sent from a central office called the Practitioner and Patient Services Agency in Winchester.

If you decline cervical smear testing altogether, then you will be given an opportunity to discuss this with a member of the practice team and then asked to sign an opting out form. An invitation for further testing will still be sent to you every 5 years in case you change your mind.
