* Minor Illness

Many conditions are self-limiting and get better on their own. It is often useful to see how a condition develops instead of seeking immediate medical attention.

Advice regarding minor illness can also be obtained from:

Nurses and Doctors are happy to give advice over the phone if you have any doubt whether an appointment is really necessary.

You may wish to consider keeping some simple remedies at home i.e. soluble paracetamol tablets (adults and children over 16) which are good for headaches, colds, sore throats and painful bruises and paracetamol mixture (e.g. Calpol or Disprol) for relief of pain or fever in young children.

Remember all medicines should be kept in a box or cupboard with a lock and stored well out of the reach of children.

Flu Vaccinations

Flu vaccinations are available in October each year for all patients over 65 years of age and those under 65 years who fall into categories as recommended by the national guidelines.

If you have any doubt as to whether you should receive an immunisation please check with one of the reception team.
